Lindores Abbey is the site where the first distillation of Scotch whisky that appears in government record took place in 1494. Matured using sherry butts, Bourbon barrels, and wine barriques.
One quarter of the whisky is finished in first-fill (mostly white) Port casks, three quarters of the whisky is matured in second-fill Madeira casks.
